The painterly frame of “Out of the herd” was developed using varied warm shades of white and by filling it with multiplied images of animal carcasses. The theme indicated in the title is accentuated by isolating the image of a horned animal from the white mass of the body, which stately, almost demonstrative, displays spectacular antlers – a kind of weapon that distinguishes the animal from the herd. This photograph, classic in form, which acts on the viewer with its surprising contrast between the gentleness of the white and the dynamism of the bull’s figure, impresses with the simplicity of its compositional arrangement and unpretentiousness.
