Being an adult is not a privilege

Darek Pala’s paintings are characterized by a lack of perspective and scant chiaroscuro. However, it is the intense contrasting colors such as blues, reds, bottle greens and yellows that dominate the canvas. Each image has one dominant color that draws the viewer’s attention. The artist creates atmosphere by using intertwining warm and cold colors that build up the decorative aspect of the works. The figures of people, animals, plants and objects are flattened and simplified, which introduces associations with Expressionism, particularly the works of Franz Marc, founder of the “Blue Rider” group.
