On December 12, 2022, the birthday toast was given by the Limited Edition Gallery. The anniversary celebration was held at the Old Orangery in the Royal Baths Park, and the main highlight of the program was an exhibition combined with an auction of Ten by Ten, or ten objects by artists of the decade of the Limited Edition Gallery. The auction objects were the personal choice of the gallery’s founder, Iwona Staroszczyk: “These are works of high artistic value by recognized artists represented by the gallery, whose works are in museum collections.”
“Under the hammer” went the sculptures of Jozef Wilkoń, Beata Czapska, Ida Karkoszka, Aleksandra Kujawska and Tomek Górnicki, as well as painting works – by Andrzej Fogtt, Wiktor Dżochowski and Darek Pala – and photography by Marcin Ryczek and an art book Ah those babes Jozef Wilkoń. The total sale amounted to 288 thousand zlotys; no auction fees were charged at this auction.
The evening at the Orangery was not only a birthday party, but also a premiere party. Indeed, oil works by Józef Wilkoń from the late 1950s made their debut to the public. from the Wilkoń series after the Academy, previously unavailable on the art market. These are the only oil works by the Master to come out from under his brush and several of them have been donated to the gallery for sale, opening a new decade of activity. The remaining works from the series will contribute to the collection of the under-construction Museum of Contemporary Art by Józef Wilkoń in Piaseczno. It has been a wonderful ten years, for which I thank our collectors, artists and art lovers gathered around the gallery, without whom its existence would not be justified.
I also thank my family: my partner, who is a great authority for me, and our son,” concluded the gallery founder. The auction and promotion of the event was held with the support of Artinfo.pl, TVP Kultura and Elle Decoration.
