Bears are a constant theme in Gabriela Cichowska’s work. She always paid attention to abandoned teddy bears. He searches for them at antique fairs, antique stores, and sometimes finds them left in random places. He is looking for unique, one-of-a-kind toys with a story. Over the years, she has already amassed an impressive collection of bears. Some are real treats, prized by connoisseurs and collectors, with a highly coveted tag. He gives each find to a dry cleaner, then restores it and gains a model for a painting or illustration.
Born in 1984 in Rzeszow, she is a graduate of the St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts. Jan Matejko in Krakow. She received her diploma in 2011 in the Intaglio Printing Studio of Prof. Stanislaw Wejman. Since 2011, he has been a teacher at the St. Michael’s Academy of Fine Arts. Władysław Strzemiński in Lodz, Poland.
She has won more than a dozen awards and prizes at home and abroad. Among other awards, she received Opera Prima – 1st prize for debut at the 2009 Bologna International Book Fair for her illustrations for the book Fantje, Gimpel Verlag (published in Poland by Muchomor publishing house titled: Słoniątko).
