““Towards Art Deco” is a contemporary bronze sculpture by Antoni Janusz Pastwa, created in 2025 in a limited edition of 1/8. The artist reinterprets the motif of the horse by embedding its stylised, geometric form within a rectangular frame.
The work consciously alludes to the aesthetics of Art Deco — its love for rhythm, stylisation and elegant simplification. The compact composition balances structural clarity with organic, fluid surfaces that suggest a horse’s body emerging from within the sculptural frame.
Despite its intimate scale, the contrast of mass and light creates a sense of monumentality. This is a modern, refined interpretation of the equine form, both sculptural and subtly abstract.”
“Antoni J. Pastwa emerges from the experience of the avant-garde and reconstructs the given conversations in a new aesthetic, based on the old forms of wisdom and compassion. A wonderful statement by an experienced master. A poignant proposal to walk together through the emblems of suffering and joy. A conversation of old, still new.” – Yaroslav Mikolajewski
